Irene Cogliati Dezza is a professor at ULB as well as a consultant at BeBrain. She is passionate about people’s minds, and in particular, understanding how people make decisions, which unfortunately do not always improve their well-being and mental health. She’s fascinated by questions like: Why do people habitually consume negative content on social media, even when it triggers anxiety or sadness? Or, why do individuals repeatedly engage in behaviors that contradict their own values and desires?
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology (Sapienza University of Rome, 2010), a Master’s Degree in Neurobiology (Sapienza University of Rome, 2012), a university certificate in data science (Université catholique de Louvain, 2018) and a PhD in psychology (ULB, 2018). She carried out her doctoral research in Axel Cleermans’ lab at ULB, collaborating with William Alexander from Florida Atlantic University and Angela Yu from the University of California, San Diego. For her postdoctoral research, she worked in Tali Sharot’s lab at University College London and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as in Tom Verguts’ lab at Ghent University.
